We Pray Together
Praying together is a central part of our school life at StBede’s Catholic Primary School. We have a weekly school pattern of prayer whichbegins with a whole school Celebration of the Word whereby we reflect on theGospel Scripture from the previous day’s Mass. Throughout the week, we gather in different ways, either as a school, key stage or class to pray together. This prayer is sometimes adult led or is led by the pupils with theguidance of staff, dependent on their age.
We also have a dedicated chapel space within our school andan outdoor prayer garden which provide further spaces for our young people togather together to pray.
We work closely with our local Parish of All Saints and theolder pupils regularly attend Mass on a weekly basis and we gather together inour Parish as a whole school to mark significant events in the school andChurch year such as Christmas, Easter and the Feast of St Bede.
Each class leads a ‘Stay, Pray and Play’ each term whereparents are invited to come along and join the pupils in a prayerful gatheringfollowed by some time to share activities together such as arts andcrafts.
At St Bede’s, the teaching of traditional Catholic prayersis an integral part of our mission to nurture children in faith and prayer, inkeeping with the teachings of the Catholic Church. Pupils are introduced tothese prayers at appropriate stages of their development, supporting theirspiritual growth and understanding of our shared faith. These prayers may alsobe shared with families to encourage prayer within the home, strengthening thepartnership between school and parents in helping children to deepen theirknowledge of prayer and to reflect on the meaning and relevance of theseprayers in their lives as Christians today.
